Obituary for David Leno

Our very proud, loving husband, dad, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away March 17, 2017, at the Peaks Care Center. He was 89.

He was born July 19, 1927, in Tuttle, North Dakota, to Edward and Christina (Landenberger) Leno.

David married Ramona Wacker on June 15, 1952, in Linton, North Dakota.

He drove the mail truck from Bismarck to Minot every morning, and ran for Sheriff in Linton, ND, and lost by two votes. He owned and operated Leno’s Standard for 13 years in Bismarck, ND. David moved his family to Longmont, CO, in 1979. He initially worked at Big R (Ranch Wholesale) store and then spent many years as a diesel mechanic for Total Concrete Services.

David was a member of New Creation Church. He volunteered at the Our Center for 13 years, which he so enjoyed. A very giving man, he would always help anyone at any time, no matter what the task. He loved to work with his hands, and could fix anything. He enjoyed fishing, reading, watching westerns, and the mountains. David was very proud of his strength, and liked to show it in the handshakes he gave.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred Leno, sister Betty Morelle and daughter Brenda Leno.

David is survived by wife, Ramona of Longmont; three children, Steven Leno (Bobbie) of Loveland, CO, Kimberly Beurskens (Aaron) of Raymore, MO, and Becky Leno of Longmont; four grandchildren, Dillon (Camille) Leno, Syriah Leno, Alexis Beurskens and Spencer Beurskens; three great-grandchildren, Natalie Roberts, Ryleigh Dutcher and Viscaria Jean Louise Leno; brother, Edward Leno (Norma) of Bismarck, ND; three sisters, Hattie Wolf of Steele, ND, Edna Bohe of Bismarck, ND, and Julia Engelhardt of Lodi, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 25, 2017, at New Creation Church. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Dementia Research (CDM.com) or the Our Center. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
