Condolences

Condolence From: Yvette and Charles Frank
Condolence: Alva came into my life when I was a little girl, he was a dear friend of my mom. He was so wonderful and I loved spending time with him, when I was older and married he came back into my life and met my precious husband who had an amazing bond with Alva, they were like life long buddies, they had many similar stories of their youths and how they both loved exploring Boulder as they grew up in the exact same area but 26 years apart. We loved driving around and hearing Alva's stories, he new so much about Boulder history. He is smart, sweet and so very kind and we feel so lucky to have had time with him. Just not enough, our hearts are truly going to miss his voice, his laughter, his songs, his wisdom his funny stories too. He is truly loved and missed by us and will always be. Love you Alva and God bless you. Big hug's from Yvette and Charlie

Condolence From: John Oppenlander
Condolence: Another one of our local historians has gone on and will be missed.

I met AJ at McDonalds shortly after I retired in 2008. He came in just about every morning and sat a table with Bob Vogler and I and we'd visit. He had an amazing collection of stories about growing up in Boulder and his families history of mining in the hills west of town. I particularly enjoyed these as I worked for many years on the Boulder Ranger District of the Arapaho and roosevelt National Forests and the places he talked about I'd been to as part of my work. The past couple of years, he didn't make it to McDonalds as often but when he did, he still had stories to share and was a pleasure to spent time with.

AJ was a wonderful person, a gentleman, was very soft spoken and always greeted me with warmth, compassion and a big smile. I will miss him.
